The Wind Caves
This is what the Wind Caves look like. They were made by water… not wind.

A few Sundays ago we went on a hike to the Wind Caves up Logan Canyon. This hike and I have a love/hate relationship. I love when I get to the top, but hate the hiking part to get there. This hike was actually one of my husband’s and my first dates. I booked up the hike as fast as I could go following him and made it all the way to the top. Unfortunately I puked at the top.
Luckily this time I didn’t puke. My kids would have never let me live it down. Not only did my kids make it to the top, but they hiked the entire way up on their own. On the way down they got tired and ended up being carried by my husband. Lucky kids.
Here are some pictures!
Here is my husband with the Wind Caves in back.

Here is a view from on top of the cave. Look how high we are!

Ignore the fact that I look BAD. I am even wearing brown sunglasses when I am wearing black. BAD BAD BAD. The Shortcut
Family picture 2008. Can you even see my son? Look at all that camo!

This is the picture of the LUCKY KIDS!

Stumble it!

That looks so awesome
Gimme a friggin’ break! You NEVER look bad. We did this hike 1 time as a family and it kicked my a**. Not as bad as Crimson trail though. It was TOTALLY worth getting to the top! Great picks! As usual…
Bridge, I have yet to see you in a photo looking bad! I would love to see the wind caves in person, But I doubt that will ever happen. Thanks for taking me there with your photos.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Hugs and Blessings.
The only way I would be able to get to the wind caves is if Max would carry my fat ass up the trail.
I had totally forgotten about that hike!!! Next time I’m in town…
Thanks for the photo memories. I’d better see that family pic on your christmas card!
MWAH!!!
Logan Canyon has some very unique geologic features. In a formation called the Lodgepole limestone formation are a number of a fossils. Yes, I would be a fossil if I were found on the trail hiking to the Wind Caves. The fossils are mainly brachiopods or clam like shells. They range in age from 100 million to 500 million years old and it is amazing to think those formations high in the canyon were under a large sea or ocean at one time.
Next time you go hiking look in some of the rock formations. We have plans in our Latino Boy Scout Troop to visit several sites in Logan Canyon to hunt for them. I am sure a Cub Scout might be interested too. When we get around to it later I could send you the locations.
Nice photos by the way!
Craig took my there when we were engaged and I was visiting Cache Valley for the first time. He said it was a fun little hike with a great view. He was right about the view but the hike about killed me. Luckily by then, I didn’t mind him knowing I was a wuse and told him to slow down or I would have been puking too.
as usual, you look like total shit.
tucson is hot, muggy and full of giant ass bugs. i can’t wait to come home.
Yes Bridge, you are an ugly ho. Seriously, I can barely look at your perfect skin and smile without puking. For reals…
I just hiked Wind Cave in SD—I’m short so I had no problem..my husband, on the other hand, hit his head about every 5 feet. This is what I heard for most of the hike, “Ah–shit! I’m okay.”
What a great looking family! You didn’t look bad at all, silly. Looks like fun was had by all.
Hey, we were up there the same day.
Didn’t even see you guys.
Probably the brown sunglasses.

Wow… They added signs and stuff to the trail?.. I have been away from Logan for too long.
