kick some grass
powerade. real salt lake. crispy fried shoulders. six 8 year olds. twelve soccer cleats and shin guards. awesome t-shirts. a day with friends. two wins, one loss, one HEARTbreaking loss, resulting in us NOT going to the championship. perfect weather (although a little bit hot!!)
it’s the kohl’s american cup.
a day of soccer. a day of sportsmanship. a day i survived. a day i lost my voice. a day i believed in teamwork.
my girls were AWESOME. they played hard. we didn’t WIN per se, but we won as a team. i know that sounds all new-agey and like bullshit, but it’s not. they believed we could win and they never gave up. i was so proud of them i had tears in my eyes. i wanted to cry. it’s inspiring to be part of a team that experienced such great success this season. we didn’t lose a single game during the regular season. 6 wins, 3 ties, ZERO losses. ZERO.
i’m proud of my little soccer team. they played tough and they never gave up.
i’m grateful to my assistant coach, amber, who often thought of things i did not. two minds ARE better than one.
we may not have won the tournament, but it was a saturday well spent. i wouldn’t have chosen anything else.
Stumble it!

Team work and a good time seems like the whole point of letting kids play in the first place right?!
knowing you, you are a 100% at everything you do, which means you rocked coaching and the kids adored you.
I admire your patients.. really.
Sorry the kids lost the game , but glad everyone had fun. At least your team gets the point of the game and loves the moment anyway.
are you going to coach next year?
One of these days I will get my kids on a good soccer team. I think it is just part about living in Logan. Parents don’t take it serious enough. Instead of going to game they take their kids shopping and such. /sigh
My daughters team should have not played two games because of lack of players. TWO GAMES. /sigh We were just glad that the nice other coach lent her team players. At least they got to play and have fun. That is the point. Why do they even sign their kids up if they are not going to come?
My sons team had a better year. Yet again hardly anyone would show up. It is hard for the boys to play the entire game without breaks. That field is huge.
Such drive. Such patience. Such admiration I have for you. KUDOS to you, Amber and the girls!
