woman power: support jean welch hill

Published by jess under utah blogsphere

join me and support jean welch hill for utah attorney general. you can donate to her campaign by clicking to her actblue site and giving whatever you deem appropriate.

it’s not just her gender that has caught my attention. i particularly like her stance on vouchers and on children’s justice. i find her to be well-spoken and more than capable of doing the job as our attorney general.

you can find more info about jean on the best democrat blog in utah the united states, the utah amicus Alone in the Dark film Edison trailer Toolbox Murders movies . if you click here, you’ll get all the jean welch hill info you need, all eloquently written by someone else. :) The Lazarus Child movies

go sign this petition

Published by jess under jess, my two cents, utah blogsphere

if you oppose chris buttars, you need to sign this petition.

while i’m not one of his constituents, i AM a utahn. and he represents not only the people in his district, but our state, too. and his comments are embarrassing. at best, he’s a very stupid man…and at worst, he’s a racist. and a homophobe. this man doesn’t have the right (no one does) to define what’s normal and what isn’t.

either way, he’s not someone who should be voting on any legislations. join me and other bloggers, listed below, by signing the petition “we don’t support chris buttars.”

the world, according to me (petition starter)
kvnu’s for the people (includes a link for the pro-buttars petition if you’re interested…)
the sidetrack
saintless
the utah amicus

there are probably others, but i think you get the point.

When you go get groceries…you might accidently run into people you know.

Published by Bridge under utah blogsphere

Acutally, this happens to me ALL THE FREAKING TIME. Part of it is that I have lived in this area my entire life. Sometimes it is pure dumb luck. Other times it is Murphy’s law.

I can promise you that if you look like crap you will see more people you know than if you happen to look great. This is FACT.

If you haven’t showered in days? You will totally run into all your old boyfriends AND your entire graduating class. All at the same store. Look great? You might run into your mom. Maybe not even your mom. I usually look completely incompetent in front of mine.

A few weeks ago I went grocery shopping at Maceys with no makeup, my hair in a knot on top of my head, and in a jogging suit. I ran into no less than three customers. They all wanted to say hi. I should mention that they all looked great.

Last night I went to Maceys again for some groceries and ran into Tom Grover and Ryan Yonk from KVNU Michael Jackson’s Last Days: What Really Happened hd and Rob Miller from the Utah Amicus. They were doing live coverage of Super Tuesday. Ican say that this time I was lucky. I didn’t look great, but I didn’t look like crap either. I am thankful for this as they wanted a picture. I should mention that I hate the angle the picture was taken at, but whatever… Low shots always make you look worst.

Here is the picture…

join me - support morgan bowen for congress

Published by jess under utah blogsphere

ok, so i did something today i’ve NEVER DONE BEFORE. i got an email from jasonthe, who is 1/2 of thesidetrack, asking for contributions for morgan bowen. i didn’t even really think about it, i just clicked the website and donated. ask jason, he’ll tell you i was hesitant about morgan at first, but after reading this, i’m voting for him in november.

i’ve copied and pasted from jason’s email below. you don’t have to be rich to contribute - i’m proof. i gave ten bucks.

**
The Challenge: 100 Donors in 48 Hours.

The Cause:
Yesterday Morgan Bowen (Democratic challenger to Republican Rob “Invisible Congresman” Bishop) issued a statement on the recent house FISA bill and the issue of granting retro-active immunity to law-breaking telecommunications companies, affirming the notion that were he a member of Utah’s federal congressional delegation, he would not have voted to grant immunity or support the warrant-less wiretapping of Americans.

Morgan is fighting an uphill battle against Republican Rob Bishop in the first district, and his stance on this issue sets him apart not only from our current representatives (including Democrat Jim Matheson, UT-2) - who have repeatedly defended the “break the law now, we’ll make it legal later” precedent this bill creates in defense of AT&T and Verizon - but it also distinguishes him from every other candidate running in Utah this cycle.

It was a bold move in defense of our Constitution that is not without it’s political risks. And now we have an opportunity to send a firm thank you message to a candidate who is showing, among so many afraid to do so, that real leadership is an asset, not a liability.

Our goal here is modest: 100 Donors in 48 Hours (any any donation amount is helpful, so if $10 is all your budget allows - like mine - that helps too). Make time today to visit Morgan’s ActBlue page and give encouragement for his raising of the bar by defending our right to privacy. After you make your donation, please forward this email to family, friends, co-workers and colleagues who may be up for the challenge of helping us hit this goal.

And Morgan on ActBlue: http://www.actblue.com/page/morganbowen

Thank You! –
Jason

cache valley illuminati strike again

Published by jess under holidalies, jess, utah blogsphere

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Cache Valley Illuminati, a group of regular bloggers who reside in the Logan, Utah area, was unofficially put together by jess of See, Hear, Speak No Evil (SHSNE) and unofficially named by Tom Grover, of KVNU’s For the People (FTP). Regular participants include jess and Bridge of SHSNE, Loralee of Loralee’s Looney Tunes, Craig and MacKenzie of Banter of a Blond Republican Couple and Tom Grover and Ryan Yonk of FTP.

LOGAN, UTAH - Dec. 19, 2007 - The Cache Valley Illuminati (CVI) will meet again on Thursday, Dec. 20 at Kamin Thai Restaurant at high noon. All Cache Valley bloggers are invited to join. In the regular CVI spirit, the group gathers together at a locally owned and operated restaurant for lunch every month and discusses a variety of topics, including their personal lives and events in the news. While the name of the organization alludes to secrecy and a requirement for membership, nothing could be further from the truth.

“This is, like, the best thing to happen to Cache Valley since we got a Starbucks,” said Bridge.

Loralee said she loves to have an excuse to ditch her pajamas and put on some fabulous lip gloss. jess said she started the idea because she wanted to get out of work for at least an hour meet the people she was having online conversations with in person over some good food and have an opportunity to show off her amazing table manners.

“You never would have seen a gathering of this scale in North Dakota,” said Craig, while MacKenzie agreed that she’d never heard of such an eloquent meeting in her time, let alone been invited to participate.

Ryan said he’d leave the flip-flops at home in an offering to the snow god and Tom will be nursing the family jewels due to a recent snowball fight injury.

For more information about the Cache Valley Illuminati and how you can join us on a monthly basis, leave a comment. Someone will contact you with additional details.
