Does this rug tie the room together?
Something weird is going on in the mind of Al. Ok, something weirder than normal.
Over the past few weeks I have begun to purchase accessories for my home (alright, apartment. Jeez, let’s be correct then). Today, a few place mats for the kitchen table, some very nice cotton napkins (being the resident greeny, I definitely recommend these for everyday use. They’re not just for rich snobs with napkin rings anymore), and a cover for my futon. No biggie, right?
Last time I picked something up it was a set of rugs. One graces the hallway and the other, the living room. It is this rug that has left me wondering, Does this rug tie the room together?
I’ve never purchased a rug before and have been thinking about it for many moons. But I’m picky and didn’t want one with a plastic bottom (I HATE those sons of bitches). And I definitely didn’t want one of those ubiquitous rugs with psuedo-oriental or psuedo-arabian designs. I’m not a fan of those and will not put one in my place.
So I found this rug set at Linen’s N Things.
No plastic bottom: check!
No crazy designs: check!
Colors I can live with: check and check!
Not made in China: check!
Made in an environmentally friendly manner: BONUS CHECK!
Park B. Smith
is the manufacturer of my new rugs and uses recycled cotton and is hand woven. Which also means I can toss it in the washer. AWESOME!
Dear Reader, I am begging for you opinion. Does this rug tie the room together? I mean, am I going to have to go batshit if someone comes in a pisses on it?

Stumble it!

I don’t know… but do you know where I put my freaking white russian? I just don’t know dude.
I’m not going to be any help here. From the pictures though it looks nice to me! We had a giant oriental rug once that I got sick of everyone tripping over, but it was beautiful and I couldn’t bear to part with it, so I nailed it to the wall. It looked awesome. We couldn’t paint since we were in a rental, so it added some color to the room…and no one tripped on it anymore! …just a wannabee home decorator…
i think the color is great, but i would have picked out a larger rug. add another one maybe?
It looks great and love it! I agree with Jess too, maybe you can add another one…
I like it a lot. I think it works pretty nicely.
Of course, I would have gone with the Bear Rug myself. So, now that you know what kind of taste I have you can completely reject my advice if you want.
I’d mainly be worried about it sliding around too much (I had one that was similar and it.drove.me.nutso.
It looks great Al.
Beware of the nihilists!!!!! They got the rug, they got Donny, and next they could get you!
Anyway, looks good to me. I like that you put so much thought into your rug choice.
I think the real question is, does Ruido like it?
I like it. The colors look great with your wood floor. Like Loralee, my only thought is “slippage”…..
(I have the same yoga mat!!)
Not sure…all I keep thinking of is Josephs coat of many colors…..and I keep focusing on the growlers next to the bookcase….and that chair! I didn’t know anyone still owned one of those!
to swipe something from a certain ceral commerical “mikey likes it” thats my story and I’m sticking to it! Hope that you and all of your friends had a great day!
Bridge- your white russian is where it always is… on the freaking mantle by the freaking non-diary creamer and your freaking $0.97 check!
Nan- don’t think this one would look as decorative on the wall, but if’n I ever get board with it, I’ll keep the wall in mind.
Jess- this is the biggest size they had. I’ve already contemplated another one but mayhap if I ever get it together enough for a coffee table, it won’t matter.
Jay- If you killed the bear, or if you just sent the bear rug (white, I’m guessing) I’d totally sport it!
Lor- since it’s only me and el gordo gato, slippage isn’t such a big deal. But I’ve gotta start looking for something to put underneath…
Kyle- thanks man.
Lu- The Chinaman is NOT the problem. Ruido LOVES it, and it’s hall counter part. My guess, it’s not as cold as the hardwood floors.
The OT- hopefully yours gets more use than mine has been getting as of late.
Tim- Growlers are from Rogue (in Newport, OR) and Socorro Springs (Socorro, NM). As for the chair, they’re easy to move and cheap (my 2 favorite qualities in furniture. Plus el gordo gato loves it.
Mike- nice ’80s kick back. Thanks for the support man and for being so adamant about it!
nice rug, nice muted colors, if someone pisses on it it’s washable remember, but don’t let anyone cut off your pinky toe and shut the fuck up donny! oh, and yes it really ties the room together man…..
holy shit, you’ll sport a bear rug but you won’t eat meat???
WTF is going on here?
In a month or so I want to hear if you regret that no rubber back thing! On those floors you just might!
Yeah, bigger… but the color is super awesome!!
mini baccarat…
mini baccarat…
Fuck the rug! What’s the matter with you? Are you NESTING???
…and I think the rug looks great.
