kick some grass
powerade. real salt lake. crispy fried shoulders. six 8 year olds. twelve soccer cleats and shin guards. awesome t-shirts. a day with friends. two wins, one loss, one HEARTbreaking loss, resulting in us NOT going to the championship. perfect weather (although a little bit hot!!)
it’s the kohl’s american cup.
a day of soccer. a day of sportsmanship. a day i survived. a day i lost my voice. a day i believed in teamwork.
my girls were AWESOME. they played hard. we didn’t WIN per se, but we won as a team. i know that sounds all new-agey and like bullshit, but it’s not. they believed we could win and they never gave up. i was so proud of them i had tears in my eyes. i wanted to cry. it’s inspiring to be part of a team that experienced such great success this season. we didn’t lose a single game during the regular season. 6 wins, 3 ties, ZERO losses. ZERO.
i’m proud of my little soccer team. they played tough and they never gave up.
i’m grateful to my assistant coach, amber, who often thought of things i did not. two minds ARE better than one.
we may not have won the tournament, but it was a saturday well spent. i wouldn’t have chosen anything else.
